Well, we’ve certainly gone for the unexpected journey in these past four weeks...If you were planning a European trip it’s unlikely it’d read like this: Riga, Madrid, Soria, Ilkley, Putney, Southwark, Stoke-by-Nayland, Sevenoaks, Krakow, Katowice, Cluj-Napoca, Münster, Osnabrück, Bad Urach, Herrieden, Schönsee, Munich, Westminster, Oxford, Paris, Geneva, Romont, Brussels, Venlo, and to complete the logical sequence, Beijing! But that’s what we’ve done to pass the time, mixing singing with teaching, filming, eating, sleeping, singing, teaching, filming, eating, sleeping...don’t know about you but I’m exhausted!Looking forward to spending the weekend up at my mother and father-in-law’s house in the beautiful market town of Alnwick, home to the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland, surely one of the world’s great second hand bookstores and just a stone’s throw away of some magnificent beaches and castles! Getting some sea-air in my lungs will be somewhat of an improvement on the more polluted variety we experienced recently. Much as I love Asia, and in particular, China, we are very fortunate not to have to breathe in the air of some of the most polluted cities in the world – not that China is alone in that category by any stretch of the imagination – and I hope people realise how lucky we are.So, some much needed R&R is on the menu and I plan to take full advantage of some home time. Cooking, cleaning, ironing, gardening, you name it, I so appreciate being able to do ‘normal’ things when I’m not touring. Preparing a meal for Liz and I is a novelty and one I love getting involved with. I’m thinking a bit of Ottolenghi is on the cards and maybe some Japanese-inspired cuisine, too.
