Tallinn, Estonia

I’m a bit late to post this, as yesterday was a strange day, with only intermittent internet connection... in the last 9 days, we’ve have had 7 concerts, in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and Hungary. We had a wonderful show in Budapest on Sunday evening; Hungarian audiences seem always to be great fun. They have a lovely habit of lapsing into a ‘slow clap’ at the end of concerts, where they clap in unison, getting faster and faster until we reappear. It’s such good fun!

Yesterday was a travel day, but was made slightly more tricky than planned because of a cancelled flight. This meant we need to be re-booked on to 3 new flights, so ended up going Budapest-Munich, Munich-Frankfurt, Frankfurt-Tallinn. We arrived past midnight, rather than 5pm! So it really wasn’t the day we’d planned, but we are now safely in Estonia, ready for tonight’s concert in Tartu (then tomorrow in Parnu, and Thursday in Tallinn).

To add to the excitement of being in (for me) a new country, Eddie and Nick are now out here too, ready to shadow the group and rehearse a bit. It’ll be exciting to have 8 King’s Singers in the room for the next few days. It doesn’t often happen, so I’m looking forward to the family feeling.

Having been away from home nearly 2 weeks now, and visited 6 countries, I’m looking forward to seeing Ellie again on Friday, and having a good cup (or 5) of English breakfast tea!
