Shanghai, China

I should imagine this will be the last 'blog of the current tour, so it falls to me to sum up what has been a very enjoyable 2 weeks in Poland, Qatar, The Philippines and China. Although every concert was memorable, for me the highlight was visiting Manila for the first time. For a cautious Westerner such as myself, being in a place that felt like a hybrid of Asian and American influence was reassuring: I could readily find food that I wanted to eat, and could communicate easily with most of the locals! Flippancy aside, the real revelation was the standard of singing, which was nothing short of sublime. I truly hope we can return soon. The past few days have been an expansion of our previous Chinese experiences; we visited a provincial city for the first time (Wenzhou) and introduced a new audience to our performing and lecturing style. It was a successful visit and I'm confident we'll return. What's amazing about China is not just the size or the number of inhabitants, it's the sheer willpower that means so much can be achieved in a relatively short space of time. Whether it's erecting buildings or forming and training a choir, these people really know how to get things done. We return home tomorrow and I've planned a family day out for Sunday - the first time that all five of us will have left home together. It's an exciting week ahead, busy with the most important job of them all: being Daddy!
