Perth, Australia

Today is our first day in Australia on this antipodean touring patch! We landed in Perth late last night (Johnny’s bag didn’t make it from Kuala Lumpur, but it’ll show up soon) and today we had a lovely lunch meeting in the sun, by the water. The fact we’ve all been in cold, un-sunny Europe was quite evident by the shade of pink we’ve all turned just after one meeting outside! After the meeting, Bruiser and I got some incredible coffee from a nearby shop. Australia is one of the hubs of great coffee, anywhere in the world, and this trip promises many lovely well-made cups, particularly in Melbourne: the home of the flat white.Tomorrow we have a morning radio slot for ABC Radio, then in the evening we have a joint rehearsal with St George’s Cathedral Consort, who are joining us for our concert in Wednesday which is in the beautiful Perth Concert Hall. I last sang there in 2014, on tour with King’s College Choir. I can’t wait to sing there again on Wednesday in my latest role! The Australians are such lovely and relaxed folk, and I can’t wait to meet lots of them over our 4 concerts here in Oz.
