So off we go again tomorrow, this time to Switzerland and then Germany. I'm very much looking forward to singing a selection of our German folksong repertoire in Würzburg on Thursday. My favourite from the selection we will be performing is Es Dunkelt schon in der Heide. This is a very old German folksong arranged by the masterly Gordon Langford. It tell us about a young couple who were once in love. Sadly, the lady had to leave and this song highlights some of the male character's memories about their former relationship.
We are also preparing for our trip back down under to Australia and New Zealand in a few weeks. I met lots of Gemma's friends over in London over the last few years and some have now gone back to settle back in NZ or in Australia. Consequently, I've got lots of people coming to each concert so that will be something to look forward to - it's always lovely to see friendly faces smiling back at you from the audience!
