We've just returned from a great weekend in the North of England. Johnny has already written about the marvellous concert in York Minster, in which we premiered a stunning work by superstar baritone and composer Roderick Williams: 'Everyone Sang'. We're hoping we'll get chance to perform it again sometime, despite its being written for the inauguration of York's Chapter House Youth Choir on Saturday.Yesterday's concert was in Kendal - a town famous for its 'mint cake' - and was again joint with local choirs. We had the honour of singing with K Shoes (the local male voice chorus) and with Man Band, a young group of male singers from a Kendal school. We were particularly impressed at how quickly both were able to learn 'Pokarekare Ana', one of our Postcard folksongs from New Zealand ..in Māori.. which we performed jointly in the second half of the concert.The journey home was a slow one for Jules, Tim and Me; our train got stuck in Preston for over an hour, so we arrived back to London very late indeed! I'm not sure about the other two, but I allowed myself a lie-in this morning, to try and catch up on some sleep before we're on the road again later this week. Today, though, is a day at home in Richmond, catching up on admin and carrying on the music-learning.I'm very excited about our plans tomorrow. I think what we're doing in the afternoon is probably meant to be confidential until it happens, so I won't let the cat out of the bag just yet.
