WHAT A WEEK.
You might have thought that a full week in the UK during our busy, international terms would have been a quiet one. You'd have been wrong. Totally wrong. This week has been exceptionally busy. We auditioned. We performed with Eric Whitacre and the BBC Singers from the incredible Milton Court Concert Hall live on BBC Radio 3. We appointed a new tenor, Ben. (He is brilliant, and you will love him.) And in all this, we prepared to fly to Australia via Hong Kong on Monday. For me, it's madness to think that I was in Tokyo just over two weeks ago, and that I'll be flying to time zones even further away in less than 72 hours.
Tonight, we have a concert in Reading. (To those of you not from the UK, it's a place and not just a participle. In fact it's a place almost perfectly halfway between my flat in Oxford and my home in Sussex. I have great concert organisation to thank for that.) It really is nerve-wracking performing our Great American Songbook programme in full to a British audience. It's not that we're dancing, but we definitely move more than we normally do. I'll relatives in the audience later, and I'm terrified. Yes, even I get nervous….
Anyway, so much more news to follow in the next few weeks, with photos shoots and biographies and everything to be updated before the end of July. We'll be sure to keep you posted. In the meantime, here's Tim, Ben and I after Ben's first suit appointment on Wednesday.
