The world premiere performance of a new work by James MacMillan will take place at Perth Concert Hall this evening. James MacMillan writes:
“Having followed the King's Singers for many years I was delighted when the present ensemble approached me to commission a new piece for them. They were keen that the new piece should reflect Spring in some way. I have collaborated with the poet Michael Symmons Roberts for some time, so I scoured his existing publications to find a short series of poems which probe the deeper dimensions of new beginnings in his own inimitable way. The result is this cycle of 'madrigals' for six-part male vocal ensemble, 'A Rumoured Seed.'”
Commissioning has been an important part of our history, and we are grateful to The King's Singers Foundation for supporting the generation of this new work. For further information about the concert and to book tickets, please click here.
