The two of us wanted to let you know - in our own words - that we will be leaving The King’s Singers in 2026: Chris will be leaving in May 2026 (after 14 years in the group) and Pat in August 2026 (after 10 years in the group). These conversations have been underway for some time, with our families, friends and colleagues, and today feels the right time to share the news about our next chapter with the wider public.
For both of us, being members of The King’s Singers has been a dream job. It has been an incredibly rewarding and enjoyable career and we’re proud of what we’ve achieved. We’ve given it our all and will continue to do so until our final bows next year, and we know that we are leaving the group in an even stronger place than we found it. With The King’s Singers 60th anniversary celebrations on the horizon in 2028, now feels like the right time to give the next iteration of the group chance to set its course.
As we look towards our new chapter, spent with our loved ones, and exploring our skills and interests in new professional contexts, we do so with excitement and huge affection for the group that’s shaped so much of our lives.
Chris: What a journey it’s been! I’m proud to have been the first Kiwi King’s Singer and hopefully I’m not the last. I’ve seen parts of the world I never dreamed of seeing and had some amazing colleagues along the way to share it with. It’s been such a privilege to wear the Baritone 1 jersey and I can’t wait to be a fan again, cheering from the sidelines.
Pat: For me it has been not just a ten-year journey, but a longer one that began as a teenager when I first began listening to the group (and telling my school teachers it would be my dream job!). Throughout my time in the group I’ve kept journals, and flicking back through them it is extraordinary to see how many adventures (musical, culinary, and more) I have had with my wonderful colleagues all over the world. And I daresay there’ll be plenty more in the coming year…
Change has always been a natural part of the group’s lifecycle. Eddie, Julian, Nick and Piers are such a strong and skilled team to lead the group into its next chapter; we’re excited to see these guys, and our successors, take the group into the future.
We want to highlight how grateful we are to our management teams and agents for their hard work over the years, and to you our friends all over the world, for your enthusiasm, support, and encouragement during our time as part of this wonderful group. Keep up with the group on social media and our newsletter for more information and updates as the process to find our successors develops.
With love,
Chris & Pat
