I'm home! Well, nearly...on Sunday I will be! There's something about NZ that makes you feel at ease. Maybe it's the clean air. Maybe it's the fact that you'll always bump into someone you know and it's never planned. I caught up with a former musician friend of mine whilst waiting to board the plane from Sydney to Auckland. Small world! Was also lovely seeing some Christchurch friends of mine who are living or working in Auckland at the moment.
Back in in February 2012 when I came on my first tour as the new Baritone, I remember vividly flying into Auckland and having this wonderful feeling of being home. At the time it was the first occasion I'd been back since leaving in 2010. This time round, there's still that wonderful feeling but in some ways, I think it'll be even more special when we perform at my old stomping ground, Burnside High School, in Christchurch. It's not very often that you look out into the crowd and recognise people, certainly not half the audience which I think will be the case...
Looking forward to some media commitments at TVNZ tomorrow morning. It's a pre-record for the Morning Show which'll be aired on Monday.
After this trip there's a few days to get over jet-lag (I'm hoping it takes less time than this trip) before we head to Riga, Lativa. There are a few songs that we're singing with Latvian Voices to memorise so I best get back to that.
Kia ora,Chris
