Between tours, Reading, UK

Phew! It's been a busy few weeks. The end of our Asian tour saw us enjoy time in the old colonial outpost of Hong Kong, where we all had friends to meet and enjoyed our time immensely. Since then we've had a short trip to Europe, auditions, an In Tune appearance on BBC Radio 3, appointed a new member AND enjoyed a concert appearance with Eric Whitacre and The BBC Singers at Milton Court, a wonderful new concert space in the City of London.

Well, dear readers, I have been remiss in my blog-writing of late, although my Facebook updates have been as regular as clock-work (so that's alright then). There has simply been too much going on on Fridays, recently, and I must crave your indulgence. As ever, life is exciting and concerts proceed apace. On Monday we head Down Under to tour Australia and New Zealand, and we're all excited to build up these territories again. On a personal note, it will allow me to visit my parents in New Zealand, as well as see other family members in Adelaide, so in addition to musical excitement there is much to look forward to.

I've also been looking ahead to September, and to Ben Hymas' first few concerts - both of which have special interest for me. His first concert, in Mayfield, is in my home village, and we shall be raising money for Hospice in the Weald, a wonderful charity that brings comfort to those suffering from terminal illness. Ben's second concert, a day later, is in Rochester Cathedral (where I sang as a boy chorister at the very start of my musical journey) and allows us to perform music by Barry Ferguson, former Master of the Choristers there and a former pupil of the great Herbert Howells. I'm sure Ben will enjoy a few appearances on home turf before we head off abroad, and I'm really looking forward to helping the new sound to gel and many years of success with our new tenor.

Right, back to lighting designs, packing, and preparation for our concert in Reading, tomorrow. Oh, and offering up a few prayers for the England football team!!!
