55 Years of The King's Singers

Every year on the 1st of May, we reflect on the rich history of our group, and celebrate its formation an incredible 55 years ago today.

The King’s Singers were formed in 1968 at King's College, Cambridge, where the original six members were all choral scholars. From the beginning, they set themselves apart from other vocal ensembles by performing a wide range of music, from early choral music to contemporary pop and jazz arrangements. Their distinctive sound, characterised by impeccable intonation, clarity of diction, and a seamless blend of voices, quickly gained them a loyal following.

Over the years, our group have collaborated with a who's who of the musical world, recorded over 150 albums, won two Grammy Awards, and performed in countless concerts and festivals around the globe.

We're thankful for the energy and imagination of the guys who started our group, and though this photo doesn't quite have everyone in, it's as close as we've got.
