New Music Prize submissions close with 345 entries!

Submissions have now closed for our New Music Prize that we launched in July 2020, sponsored by The King’s Singers Global Foundation & Ronald C. Gunnell in partnership with Walton Music and Washington National Cathedral.

A total of 345 brand new compositions were submitted between July and October… that amounts to over 24 hours’ worth of new choral music!! We’re giddy with excitement to get listening to the new works, and so moved and impressed by people’s creativity and initiative in setting pen to paper, at a creatively dark time.

All six King’s Singers and some colleagues are currently in the process of creating a shortlist of entries for the judging panel of industry leading composers and conductors to look at. We are hoping to premiere the winning works in Washington National Cathedral in February 2021, but it’s still unclear at this point whether this will be possible. More news will follow on that as we have it.
