London, UK

Today is the third day of this new term, and also the third consecutive singing day: glad(/relieved) to feel the voice warming nicely back into singing mode, ahead of our big, London anniversary concert coming up this Saturday, and King's College Cambridge next Tuesday.I always like these gradual build-ups into the swing of things at the very start of term, where we get to "commute" into work -- which luckily only takes me about 25 minutes door-to-door since I live pretty much in central London -- normally involving meetings and rehearsals during the day, while we get to go home to loved ones each evening and spend the night in the same and very familiar bed. I'm sure most of my friends working normal 9-5 jobs can't wait to get away and travel abroad as they sit on their daily commute and contemplate life -- but for us it's the other way round: we can't wait to have days of non-travel work!Management meeting tomorrow morning to look forward, so another early-ish start for me... Can't wait for the first lie-in of term on Friday morning, it has to be said!
