January 8, 2018

London, UK

I was pleased and relieved, as the clock struck 12 on New Year’s Eve 2017-18, to realise that January 2018 started on a Monday. It’s easy to keep track of what-on-earth day of the week it is that way. Likewise, when I realised that our KS term started on a Monday, it was pleasingly symmetrical.Today was that Monday, and we’ve had a typically varied and fruitful first day back. We started with a bit of rehearsal, dusting off our voices and brushing up some nice close harmony for the coming week. We also enjoyed catching up with what each other had been up to over the holiday period. No doubt Tim will fill you in tomorrow about Harry’s teething problems! Then we had lunch and an interview with a lovely chap from Cambridge 105 Radio. Then followed another hour rehearsing, before we hopped in a taxi to head down the road to BBC Broadcasting House, where we sang and chatted live in the studio for Radio 3’s ‘In Tune’ programme. We’re now all sitting on trains heading home, feeling somewhat like normal commuter folk for a change. I certainly don’t envy their rush-hour packed tube trains...
