London, UK

It's great to be starting the new season after a wonderfully restful and refreshing summer break! I went on holiday with my girlfriend, starting in the Var region in the south of France for a classical music festival there, and then proceeded to do a road trip from Milan in North Italy through the stunning Julian Alps (excellently named!) in Slovenia, down past its capital, Ljubljana, to the ancient Croatian coastal cities of Split and Dubrovnik - big scenes from Game of Thrones! - and finally across to Puglia in the heel of Italy for much gelato and la cucina italiana. Absolutely fantastic. Since we got back, I've been trying to do as little as possible, but am inevitably - slowly but surely - getting back into the full swing of doing emails, singing practice and having singing lessons, catching up with friends and family, and playing squash. We've had a couple of days of reassuringly productive rehearsals this week, which takes the pressure off some of the new concert programmes coming up, and we have our beginning-of-term management meeting tomorrow. Then first concert kicks off on Friday in Wales - can't wait!
