Lockdown Blog 50: I cycled 102 miles on Sunday

The limitations of lockdown inspired me and Vic to get new bicycles, mainly for short, practical journeys. Yesterday though, I unfathomably decided to put mine through 102 miles of English countryside, steep climbs through the Chiltern Hills and rather less idyllic urban cycle lanes from Leamington Spa (Warwickshire) to London.

From my rucksack supplies, I consumed en route a Brussels Pâté sandwich, two bananas, three jammy dodgers, half a slice of leftover brownie and three bottles of water. By the time I reached Wembley (of Wembley Stadium fame), I shamefully gave in, stormed the nearest petrol station and bought a Magnum White Chocolate & Cookies Ice Cream stick. I just couldn’t resist (but 90 miles down, it was so good)!

Feeling sore today – probably should have acquired some Lycra for the occasion – but super chuffed!

I chuckled to myself when I saw this village name…

The Chiltern Hills were both beautiful to behold and intimidating to approach 60 miles down!
