I love Paris in the Springtime

Paris, je t'aime. If you weren't already aware, Paris is my favourite city in the world. It ticks all the boxes for me: food, wine, culture, history, people, ambience, pace, shopping, sightseeing, vélibes, that feeling (you'll know what I mean if you've done it) called sitting-in-a-Parisien-café-whilst-it's-raining-and-watching-world-go-by...the list goes on.

For The King's Singers, our French home is the Salle Gaveau. We've been there so many times and the intimate yet exciting atmosphere, due largely to the fact that the audience is right 'on top of you', combined with the passionate Parisien concert-goers, makes for a very special evening indeed.

The programme for this evening celebrates the Best of British...without obligatory flag waving and renditions of Land of Hope and Glory, I anticipate. For their degustation we have a muses bouches of Byrd with a glass of Tallis; an hors d'oeuvre of Britten matched with Sacred and Profane; the entrée is a delicious pairing of the seasonal Gilbert with some vintage Sullivan; and we close the half with the main course of Shearing's Shakespeare Songs. We continue after a short interval with some sharing plates of Delius, Vaughan Williams and Quilter before enjoying a cafe gourmand with a trio of Spike Milligan, Lennon & McCartney. Bon appetit!

À bientôt!
