Berlin, Germany

It's gloriously sunny in Berlin, unlike at home where the weather has been "changeable," as we like to say. It's a well-known fact that the British talk about the weather all the time, so there we go. I've had the chance to sample the weather in the airport lounge for the last few hours, as our travel plans have been slightly disrupted today - but on we go! We'll be there for the concert and that's what matters. This week saw us rehearse and have a photoshoot with Pat, in advance of his commencing with the group this coming September. It felt odd not to have David with us, but there was a huge energy within the group that reassured all of us that whilst it will be different, it will remain The King's Singers - and there are exciting times ahead. One of Pat's first experiences will be to start recording our triple-album for 2018, so our priority is to get him involved in making sounds and creating the signature KS blend. He's a clever chap, and each rehearsal yields giant leaps of improvement. As well as Pat learning the ropes, the rest of us have to adjust (as we do each time a new member joins). The sound shifts, subtly, within the spectrum that we allow ourselves to use. We never have "replacements," only "successors." You will each have to judge, of course, when we see you on the road over the next few years, but from our perspective, the future is bright...
