An announcement from Chris G and Tim

Tim and Chris have a message for all of you, recorded recently on the group's US tour, announcing that this GOLD Anniversary year will be their last in The King's Singers. There's never a perfect moment to announce a big life change but, equally, they say it's great to go out at the top! With the incredible year we're having, we're sure that they'll have an amazing send-off as their time in the group comes to a close.

From Chris G:I always wondered how I'd feel, writing this paragraph, and the answer is thatwhen something feels right, it feels right! And so, with overwhelming optimismand excitement for the future, it's time to let you all know that 2018 will be mylast year in The King's Singers. Since 2004, I've had the privilege of standingwith ten different colleagues on-stage, each of whom has informed my approachto choral music and performance, and I've learned more than I ever thoughtpossible about the art of ensemble singing. Being able to apply that knowledgeclose to 2,000 times on-stage has been a privilege.By the end of 2018, I will have sung for fifteen years in a group I consider to bethe very finest in the world, and it's time for me to put my family first andsupport my wonderful wife, Stephanie, in raising our three beautiful girls Bella,Lyra and Ariana. I can never thank Stephanie enough for the support she'sgiven to me in the years since we married, and our girls deserve their Daddy tobe home with them much more from now on.I'm pretty sure I know what I'll be doing next in the world of music (watch outfor announcements soon!) but, for now, I want to thank all my colleagues - bothon-stage and throughout our global network of management, record companiesand agents - and of course all of YOU as well, for your support throughout myKS career. It wouldn't have been such a magical ride without our incrediblefans from all around the world, and I'm looking forward very much to seeing asmany of you as possible throughout this year in order to say a proper goodbye. The search for my successor in the KS is now in its final stages, and I'mdelighted to say that there will be a fantastic singer standing in my place from2019 onwards, to help sustain the group as it begins its second half-century!From Tim:I’m writing to tell you all some news. After a lot of thought, I've decided to make 2018 my lastyear as a member of The King’s Singers. It's not a decision I came to lightly but the time feelsright. It’s been an honour to be in this incredible ensemble, and by the time I leave at the endof December, I will have been a part of it for 10 years. I always wanted to leave the group ona high and it doesn’t get much more of a high than at the end of the 50th anniversary! I lovethe group, I always have and always will. I will always be a huge supporter of ‘the chaps’going forward and will keep a keen eye on their amazing experiences around the world. To my gorgeous and incredibly patient wife, Gemma - thank you. I would simply not be ableto do this job without your support. You work tirelessly to keep things ticking over at homewhilst I’m away singing all over the world and I appreciate it so much. Also, as some of youmay know, we had a baby boy in 2016. His name is Harry and he is adorable. I miss themboth so much and the pull back home is simply too great. It’s now my time to be at home andto spend time with Gemma and Harry as he grows up. The next thank you is to my motherand late father. Without their constant taxiing me backwards and forwards to the localCathedral from the age of 7, I would have never been exposed to music and singing fromsuch an early age. I’m convinced that dad is always listening in on our concerts from ‘upthere’ and I always sense him willing me on to sing well, which is a wonderful feeling. Amassive thank you to all of you, too - the fans and supporters of this incredible ensemble. Wewould be nothing without you, and I’ve loved getting to know you all over the past decade. You are all marvellous and I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible over thecoming months. And last, but certainly by no means least, thank you to Claire Long - oursuperb manager, and her incredible team at Music Prods. They look after the 6 of us so well -I’m convinced we wouldn’t end up on the same stage, at the same time, in the same countrywithout them! Thank you also to our brilliant record company, Signum Records, and ouragencies and promoters globally that enable us to spread The King’s Singers joy of music-making all over the world. This has been an incredible chapter of my life. Joining the very finest a cappella ensemble inthe world is something that I could have never dreamed of achieving, and something that Iwill always be incredibly proud of. Thank you all so much once again, Tim.
