World Cup review: Week 2

You may not be aware of this but The King's Singers have a sweepstake going for the Fifa World Cup in Russia. I shall endeavour to give you weekly updates from here on in to let you know how we're each doing with our selection of teams. So just a quick recap. In Reading, starting with Chris G and working backwards (in terms of length of tenure in the group), we drew a piece of paper out of a glamorous cardboard box and this is how we got on:Chris G - Portugal, Switzerland, Croatia, Senegal, JapanTim - Poland, France, Costa Rica, Sweden, RussiaJohnny - Argentina, Peru, Denmark, Egypt, MoroccoChris B - Germany, Colombia, Mexico, Serbia, NigeriaJules - Brazil, England, Uruguay, Iran, AustraliaPat - Belgium, Spain, Iceland, Tunisia, PanamaRound 1 HighlightsThings got off to a great start for Tim with an opening day 5-0 thrashing of Saudi Arabia by Russia. Chris G's Portugal and Pat's Spain went toe-to-toe in a thrilling encounter that we watched backstage in Kremsmünster! I wasn't 100% thrilled by Germany losing to Mexico but at least they're both my teams. We were all happy with England's result against Tunisia, a match we watched on the train to Berlin after doing some German TV.Round 2 HighlightsJohnny's probably not even realised that Argentina lost to the might of Chris G's Croatia so I'll keep that to myself (!) and Jules will be happy that Brazil finally overcame a stubborn Costa Rica, much to Tim's disappointment. At least Tim can be happy that Russia will be in the knock-out rounds after a convincing 3-1 win against Johnny's Egypt, the first team to be knocked out of this year's tournament. I just watched Chris G's Switzerland beat my Serbia in the 90th minute...gutted!Looking forward to the upcoming England match on Sunday afternoon and hopefully Germany will do the business tomorrow night while we're singing here.Tune in next week to see how we've all got on. Bye for now!
