Verona, Italy

Today we had some fun. Obviously we have fun EVERY day in The King's Singers - how could we not? No, it's just that today was extra fun. I think it started yesterday, when the weather was so horrendous that we could hardly see to drive from Milan Airport to Erba, and the concert itself was delayed by 30 minutes because there were landslides in the area. We knew that it was one of those days to dig deep - you know, the kind where even your bones feel damp and you can't remember what it's like to be dry - and as soon as we saw the audience (amongst them our wonderful Italian representatives Denise and Chiara) the day started to look up. Despite the non-existent acoustics, we created some good sounds and (two encores later) we went back into the rain feeling pretty good about our day. After that, it was with a tangible sense of relief that we awoke to sunshine this morning! Tim and I completed the second Google Hangout of the term, and were delighted to see so much interest in what we're up to. We leaped out into the sunshine in order to drive to Verona, and enjoyed Johnny's first ever experience in driving a minibus. After four years in the group, we thought it was time - and he didn't let us down. We stopped on the way at Lake Garda to enjoy lunch, a meeting about the Ensemble Hub (more on that to come) and to film a video blog down by the shore of the lake. You can view it on Facebook. It's utterly silly, great fun, and shows that we're having a darn good time in the KS at the moment. Which is just as it should be. This evening, David and I headed out to dinner and came across a Roman gate that was constructed in around 50BC. As you do. An interesting end to a great day.
