Gstaad

As Chris said in yesterday's blog, we're in the beautiful alpine town of Gstaad, in the Canton of Bern in South-western Switzerland. Today we perform a concert in the Menuhin Festival Gstaad, founded in 1957 by the violinist Yehudi Menuhin. As you will have read, this is our last concert of the season, and tomorrow we start our summer break - just as the hot weather of the last few weeks breaks into cool, wet and breezy conditions around much of Northen Europe. This has been a great trip, starting with two outdoor concerts in Cervo and Daun, followed by five shows with the NDR Radiophilharmonie, ending in Grafenegg on Saturday. It was meant to be an outdoor concert too, but Mother Nature conspired against us. However the back-up location, next to the outdoor auditorium, was great. It has been a pleasure to work with the orchestra under the baton of Frank Strobel, performing all our favourites from our Great American Songbook repertoire.I look forward to being back after the summer break for my last KS season. There are lots of exciting things to look forward to next season, but I'm looking forward to a bit of down time before then.
