It has been quite a week since I last wrote a blog. We are currently in the midst of a trip around Europe, starting with two days at the MeckPom Festival on Friday and Saturday, followed by a concert last night in Echternach in Luxembourg. Today we are travelling to Sweden via the Danish capital Copenhagen. This evening we will sing in Vastra Karup, before returning home for a few days in the run-up to our summer trip to the US. Over the last few days we have greatly enjoyed singing in some beautiful churches. As I come closer to my retirement from the KS, I’m trying to savour every moment. I’m also overwhelmed by the kind words from so many people (not to mention some lovely gifts that I have been given). In contrast, the political and financial turmoil caused by the UK’s referendum has created uncertainty in the UK, which has resonated around the world. Whilst not wanting to stray into the realm of politics, I can’t help contrasting the fevered commentary of the media (not to mention the red-hot reactions on Facebook) with the joy of performing in these lovely churches around Europe.
