Brookfield, WI

Today is a busy, exciting day. We begin with a visit to Hal Leonard Corporation, who have been our music publishing house for over 20 years. At the last count we had well over 2 million pieces of music distributed, which are being used in educational establishments and enjoyed by ensembles the world over. It's humbling to think that we have so much reach with our music, and always an enjoyable experience to visit the place where it all happens, and thank the staff who work so hard to distribute our music. We're going to record a live performance at Hal Leonard's premises, some of which will go out as a Facebook Live performance (you'll be able to re-watch it at your leisure if you miss the first broadcast) and some of which will be used as an archive for some HL arrangements. The importance of social media and the imperative of constantly feeding it with new material (very much like a hungry newborn baby!) is something that occupies us daily. After that, we head to Brookfield Academy for a Lecture Demonstration, before our evening performance nearby. Lecture Demos give us the chance to explain our craft to young musicians, including a few songs to illustrate the presentation, and are often wonderful experiences as we enthuse the next generation of singers. Even though there is a lot of information on the internet, there's no substitute for speaking directly to people about what we do, and (perhaps more importantly) WHY we do it!This trip has seen us launch our Christmas Songbook with live performances of much of the music on the recording. It's being well received so far, and for us it's very satisfying to bring these new arrangements to life on-stage. In particular, Berty Rice's hilarious arrangement of "Frosty vs. Rudolph" is fast becoming an audience favourite!
