Beijing, China

Good afternoon everyone! So as dear Patty mentioned, we're currently in China as part of The Beijing Music Festival. We've just got back from our full half-day of press conferences and meetings. Coming to Asia is such a joy - the effort everyone goes to in order to make you feel welcome is extraordinary. Thank you all!Tomorrow we will be joined by some local school children during our rehearsal, and we'll take some time out to hear them sing. We'll offer some feedback and sing with them too. I believe they'll be singing Mo Li Hua (Jasmine Flower) which is one of my all-time favourite Chinese folksong arrangements, done for the group back in 2008 by former first baritone, Philip Lawson. It's a beautiful melody and hearing the school choir singing it will also give us an opportunity to double-check our pronunciation! We're all thoroughly looking forward to the concert here and hopefully this will be the start of a long-term relationship between The Beijing Music Festival and The King's Singers.I can't wait to see Gemma and Harry on Thursday evening - apparently Harry's learnt some new tricks since I've been away, so can't wait to see them first hand. Crawling is obviously too boring now and walking/running everywhere is the order of the day!Toodle-oo for now....
