A Tribute to Richard Rodney Bennett

Sir Richard Rodney Bennett (1936 – 2012)

It was with great sadness that I read of the death of Sir Richard Rodney Bennett on Christmas Eve in his hometown of New York. Richard was a man of many parts – an Oscar-nominated composer of film scores, a remarkable jazz pianist and singer, a distinguished composer of serious music (who studied with Pierre Boulez among others) and one of the classiest arrangers around.
