Skipton, UK

I’m sitting with Tim, Pat and Bruiser in the Little Chef on the A59, just outside Skipton. In many ways, it’s the perfect way to start a Sunday at home - although I have ordered a breakfast with American pancakes, so I feel a bit like a traitor. Last night’s concert in York Minster was a real joy. Both the Chapter House Choir and the Chapter House Youth Choir are exceptional groups - full of excellent singers, but hugely successful as ensembles too. It was a privilege to share the stage with both of them. Add to that the fact that York is one of my favourite cities in the UK, and it was a great day.

Anyway, we’re now in Skipton, because we’re on our way to Kendal for today’s concert. Genuinely one of the most beautiful parts of the world. And the home of Kendal Mint Cake. I’m driving Bruiser back to Oxford later, so will make sure he eats at least a pound of it before we get home. I’ll try to snap a picture with his mouth full….
