Pretoria

What a lovely day we've had! Last night's braai was fantastic and we were still full this morning when we had another delicious brekkie followed by a trip to Baobab Cafe and Grill for lunch – we are doing more here than just eating – before driving further to Akasia High School to work with their choir for the afternoon. The singers welcomed us by singing and dancing a couple of traditional South African songs and the joy in their faces was awesome. It's such an integrated vocal colour and, having grown up appreciating and performing indigenous music and Kapa Haka in NZ, it was a real treat to hear these engaging young singers. Attie Rossouw, their director, can feel rightly proud of all the terrific work he's doing.Cast your mind back to the 70s (unless you're like me and struggle with that concept) and here, in Pretoria, was the first stop that the original line-up of King's Singers performed at. I'm sure, like the current batch, they received a wonderful, warm reception. Speaking of warm, I need a cold drink!See you soon!
