Nanjing, China

This job is nothing if not varied! Tonight was the third of four concerts in a row, all over China. We started with one in Shenzhen on Saturday, then we had one in Shanghai last night, and tonight one in Nanjing! It was without doubt one of the most bizarre concerts of my life. The audience was several thousand Chinese schoolchildren, and we were singing from an enormous stage in their gymnasium, with bubble machine, smoke machine, disco lights, and graphic displays on a screen behind us during every piece. It was quite bizarre, but an electric atmosphere. The contrast between this sort of concert - where one has to be first and foremost a great entertainer - and one in (for example) a cathedral in Germany - where the atmosphere is serious, and the musical nuances are the primary focus - is extraordinary. [Wow, that was a long sentence, but I'm not changing it!] One never knows what to expect when turning up to a new venue, and we pride ourselves on being able to adapt to the situation no matter what and give a great KS performance.Tomorrow we take a long, high speed, train ride across China to Wenzhou, where we're giving our fifth concert of the tour. The people here are being very generous, and the excitement of our fans out here is quite unlike anything else I've experienced thus far!The time difference is difficult, so I'm working extra hard to make sure I have time to catch up with Ellie in the hours that we're both awake. So far so good!If you don't already, make sure to find us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, where we'll keep you up to date on our travels and post photos and videos for your delectation.
