Munich, Germany

Yesterday evening we had a great concert in Düsseldorf, in the Robert Schumann Saal, whose acoustics are really excellent for our forces! It was a lovely programme and matched by an equally lovely audience, who were quiet at the right moments and very loud at the right moments too! It was great to see several of the group's regular supporters there and to catch up with them, and for me lovely to have my university friend Charlotte there with her godchild. I remember Charlotte once coming up to me, years ago, saying 'Pat, have you heard of The King's Singers? They're awesome!', so it was really nice to perform for her in my new role.Today has been photoshoot day! With our incredible photographer, Marco Boggreve, booked for the shoot in Munich today, we had to find a way to get from Düsseldorf to Munich (6 hour drive) between last night's concert and this morning. Our solution was to drive some of the way yesterday and stay overnight. So last night we drove a few hours from Düsseldorf to Frankfurt after the concert, checked into a hotel, slept, then set off again bright and early this morning to drive the remaining 4 hours to Munich in time for hair, make up, and then 4 hours of photos! It's at times like these that you realise how bizarre and varied this job is! Never before in my life have I regularly covered so much geographical distance so quickly, performing so much different music, in so many spectacular venues. It's physically and mentally demanding, but my word it's also rewarding!
