London, UK

Welcome back! It's our first day of term and it's been a great one. Bruiser has come back a married man, Chris G has a new car, Johnny has returned having successfully run a marathon, and we're all feeling refreshed and ready for action!I had a lovely break, including a lovely trip to Rome (one of my favourite cities) with Ellie, and lots of cooking. And, of course, spent a chunk of it learning some of the wonderful music we've got coming up this term.Today, though, we started proceedings with a meeting with our management. We particularly enjoyed making progress with our GOLD celebrations for next season (more on that to come!). Then we had a few hours workshopping the very talented singers of the National Youth Choir of Great Britain. They have a select group of 8 singers called their 'Fellows', and we heard them sing and gave some (hopefully) constructive feedback, as well as singing a piece or two with them.I now write this from the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, where I've come to hear a new opera by Thomas Adès called 'The Exterminating Angel'. The second half is about to start, but maybe next week I'll give it a cheeky review in my blog post... who knows! Hope you're all well and that you'll enjoy keeping up with us this term.
