About The King's Singers

Patronage

Over the 40 years of The King's Singers' existence, the group has benefited from the patronage of many people and organisations. It is therefore a pleasure for us to provide support to a number of musical institutions whose work we admire. We have for some years been connected to the Royal College of Music, and we are patrons of the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain, with whose senior choir we premiered Eric Whitacre's "The Stolen Child". Other organisations include the Armstrong Trust, which provides musical outreach programmes in the South West of England, and the City of Birmingham Young Voices.
We were delighted to work with the team from Sing Up at The Sage, Gateshead, recently and would like to share their work and mission with you. Sing Up is the Music Manifesto National Singing Programme which aims to put singing at the heart of primary school-aged children's lives in England.  The initiative, championed by a good friend of The King's Singers - the accomplished composer, musician and broadcaster, Howard Goodall - is supported by a 40 million pound government investment over four years.  It is run by a consortium consisting of national charity Youth Music, advertising agency Abbott Mead Vickers, music publisher Faber Music and The Sage Gateshead, an international home for music and musical discovery.   The combined expertise of these four organisations brings the programme to life through a programme of workforce development for teachers, building an accessible singing resource and a public facing media campaign to highlight the role and contribution that singing can play in the school, the home and community.
